Any festive or joyous occasion, or any cause for celebration for us as a race is always coupled with the distribution and consumption of our traditional sweets. As a people, we love any excuse to have something sweet; whether we crave it at the end of a meal, or whether we are blessed with a new born, or as a newlywed couple or whether we pass an exam or get a job, we tend to celebrate with sweets. Even in times of mourning we find solace in sweets. To us, sweets symbolize many emotions. These little milk based delights, be it dipped in syrup or malai or ghee, transcend the boundaries of religion, dialect and social parameters, and is loved by most.
